After hundreds of hours of playtime and ~75 ranked games complete (reaching Platinum level in both Axis and Allies factions), I believe, and many others believe, there are some major problems with this game's dice algorithm. UPDATE: I've had to change my review to negative. But it's not chance when this sort of stuff happens OVER and OVER and OVER again. Meanwhile, the two enemy infantry have hit for two in each of the first two rounds and then one more in the third. They are also very "streaky" where you can attack with 5 infantry, 2 tanks, and two fighters against two infantry and your entire force misses, not only on the first round, but one the second and third, then in the fourth round, every single unit hits. It's awful and you'll see a LOT of people saying the same thing on the forums, especially about AA dice and shore bombardment support.

I've asked them to publish all of my dice rolls for the past several games I've been playing so people can see for themselves how their supposedly fair dice generator actually performs in real play.

UPDATE 2: After taking a few months away from this game, I came back to try a few more games and my last update below stands. My full review is copied below in case you are interested to see how my opinion has changed over time:
Frankly, I think the developers have done a decent job with the game overall, and while there are still some problems I see, my major issue is with what I believe are unnatural dice. Everything else in the game is "OK" to "Good" with a few things (such as friendly carrier use) that are still badly needed (and really should have been implemented by now). I may come back to play again if they fix the dice. I come back to these forums from time to time to see if the problems have been resolved or at least addressed. I have since uninstalled the game and haven't played in a few months now. I put in a lot of hours with this game before realizing I was not having fun and was seeing a LOT of sketchy dice which led to more frustration than anything else. Overall though, especially on sale, this is worth the money. When a game lists single player as an option, it better damn well support that crowd (which is way more people than believed). It's why I left a poor review at first (which I am actually changing right now to positive). This game is 100% focused on multiplayer. In truth, if you're like me and just want to enjoy a quick game against the AI once in a while, please note that they have no desire to please us.

Just don't let mods affect multiplayer (for obvious reasons).
Keeps engagement happening way past the game's original legs. The workshop keeps games being sold (with no cost to devs!) through improvements and options the developers don't want to do or offer themselves. I don't understand devs not wanting mods. Right now you know infantry are moving from A to B, but visually, you don't know how many unless you check the region's dossier. They rely overly much on the dossier (overview of what's happening), but having a better visual indicator of how many troops are moving would be far better IMHO. I think it would be fine with a few minor improvements to help visually. It put me off.but I am adjusting to it slowly. The UI certainly takes some getting used to. That makes this seem like a huge step back in gaming freedom. As for inflexible rules.the '98 version allowed so many options to house rules.
